Denominación de Origen del Chivito Criollo del Norte Neuquino

Denominación de Origen del Chivito Criollo del Norte Neuquino del norte neuquino is a native goat breed from Northern Neuquén, Argentina, valued for its distinctive characteristics and deep roots in local farming traditions. In 2010, a designation of origin was introduced to strengthen its market position and highlight its quality, with support from the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) and regional producers. This initiative seeks to encourage sustainable farming methods, boost economic opportunities, and safeguard cultural heritage. Although the use of the designation has faced some challenges over time, a new generation of producers is showing growing interest in reviving and promoting it. Current efforts focus on improving communication strategies and increasing market reach, particularly through collaborations with local organizations and supermarkets. At the same time, there is a strong emphasis on promoting the nutritional benefits of goat meat while maintaining environmentally responsible practices rooted in traditional grazing.
