Shambani Pro is a pioneering social enterprise in Kenya focused on eliminating post-harvest losses for smallholder farmers through a network of decentralized micro-factories at first mile. Founded in 2022 and venture-built by Enviu (Netherlands), the company processes surplus and second-grade produce — currently mangoes — into high-quality dried products that retain 60–70% of their nutritional value. Operating in Makueni County, Kenya's leading mango production region, Shambani Pro offers farmers a guaranteed offtake at above-broker prices, delivering over 200% income increases at the farm level. The microfactory model employs women as processing workers, uses commercial dryer technology, and targets both the international bulk market and a growing domestic health-conscious consumer base. With a vision of 2,000 farmer-owned franchise microfactories across sub-Saharan Africa, Shambani Pro is building a scalable, self-sustaining model for rural agri-food value addition.
