Food Not Bombs

"Food is a right, not a privilege" — a volunteer community garden and kitchen in Sofia

Food Not Bombs Sofia is a self-organised initiative of volunteers and the local branch of the international movement for ecosocial justice, operating in the capital of Bulgaria. Under the slogans "Food is a right, not a privilege" and "Solidarity, not charity", it maintains a community urban garden and kitchen where people from all walks of life are free to share work and a meal every Sunday. Its activities have consistently focused on people in need, and the shared kitchen and garden are meant as a space where everyone can feel equal. The movement depends entirely on self-organising volunteers and starts mutual aid groups around specific problems; its activists come together around causes linked to pacifism, non-violence and equal rights of representation in decision-making.
